Women Veterans Day: Bothell Cheerleaders Turn Kind Words into Big Smiles for Local Women Who Served — and Acti-Kare is honored to hand-deliver every note.
Dozens of Letters, One Powerful Message
In honor of Women Veterans Day, the Bothell High School cheerleaders wrote dozens of personal notes to our female veteran clients. Some offered thanks—“Your courage inspires us every day.” Others shared how these women’s service still shapes younger lives. Each envelope proves that a new generation values the sacrifices of women in uniform.
“We wanted them to know their service still matters,” the team’s coordinator said.
Why These Letters Matter
Many of our female veterans served when women’s military roles weren’t always recognized. A handwritten letter—rare in today’s digital world—can lift older adults’ spirits and help them feel more connected.
Delivering Gratitude

What Is Women Veterans Day?
Celebrated every year on June 12, Women Veterans Day commemorates the 1948 
signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, the law that granted women a permanent place in our military. While it isn’t yet a federal holiday, dozens of states now issue proclamations or host events to honor the more than 2 million women veterans living in the United States today
